Coast in the Clouds is a 4 piece rock band combining Japanese and English lyrics into their blend of pop rock, punk, emo, and metalcore.
Short Bio
Coast in the Clouds is a band from San Francisco/San Jose, CA, composed of Allison (vocals), Andrew (guitar), Erikson (bass), and Dean (drums). Influenced by various bands (pop rock, punk, emo, metalcore, etc.) from Japan and America, Coast in the Clouds brings a new style of music with both Japanese and English lyrics to audiences of varying musical tastes. Accompanied by high energy performances, Coast in the Clouds aims to make an impact in music all over the world by bridging two of the most popular nations in music.
Long Bio
From January 2014, Coast in the Clouds was founded and formed by Andrei, Andrew, and Erikson, who took on the role as vocalist/guitarist, drummer, and bassist, respectively. After writing music and playing a few shows together, the band then took an indefinite hiatus. After 2 years of broadening their musical library and knowledge, the band decided to restart their activities with a goal of making more music with a fresh mindset and line up on January 2016. From then on, Allison and Dean were added into the line up, which ultimately led to reassignment of roles: Allison (vocals), Andrei (guitar, vocals), Andrew (guitar), Erikson (bass), and Dean (drums).

From March 2016, Coast in the Clouds announced they will release their first self-produced EP "Re:START" on May 31, 2016. This EP will consist of 5 tracks. One track entitled 「何となく」(Nan to Naku), which translated to "For An Unknown Reason," was released to the public on April 22 via YouTube and SoundCloud to preview their "Re:START". On February 14, 2017, they released a new mini EP "The Departure". In the same year, Andrei announced his departure from the band in order to pursue his career in Japan after graduating from college. Through out the next couple years, the band would continue to play live shows and promote new music.
In Decemeber of 2018, Coast in the Clouds was invited to perform in Shibuya, thanks to connections with former band member Andrei who had since started a new band named "One Eye Closed" in Japan. The show was named No Borders, in order to represent the diversity of music and bands together in one show.

Press/Reviews
"This band, hailing from San Francisco, California, writes their songs in Japanese. Listening to the intro, it's as if you're with your friends, driving along the coastline with the salty sea breeze blowing through an open window. Looking at the song as a whole, the tune is very refreshing, while having negative/melancholic lyrics. The feeling and message behind the song "Nan to Naku" (For An Unknown Reason) is something that is very relatable to a majority of the Japanese population, maybe even more so for young women. From being locked and lost with no direction, the feeling of wanting to express "I want to be with you, but for some reason I can't change my heart anymore" to "you" and the existence of "you" is what this song means to us." - Rock in Japan Festival (2017) [Translated from Japanese]
"The band released their 1st EP called Re:Start on May 31, 2016. This is a direct reference to AKFG Re:Re: and while this EP has such a music variety in its tracklist, we think the song "Nan to Naku" (何となく), having a few Re:Re: sonorities, can easily be a hit, just like Konayuki was." - Akfgfragments (2016)
"Tearing up the Asian rock scene across California." - United Asia (2016)
